ECA Boys Track & Field Captures Sixth Straight MBC Title

YELLOW SPRINGS — The Emmanuel Christian Lions Track & Field Teams competed at the Metro Buckeye Conference Championships on May 13th and brought home their sixth consecutive conference championship. Lead by thirteen first team all-conference athletes, the Lions captured their 12th Metro Buckeye Conference Championship. Not only is this is their sixth in a row, but they have won 11 of the last 12. Since joining the conference in the 2009-2010 school year, the Lions have won the conference 12 times in 15 seasons! Senior Alex Pinkleton was named Metro Buckeye Conference Athlete of the Year and freshman Eli Scales was awarded the MBC Rookie of the Year. Receiving first team all-conference honors were seniors Noah Franz, Alex Pinkleton, and Josh Savard, juniors Drew Hoying, Darryus Myers, and Eli Whetstone, sophomores Micah Allen, Brayden DeArmond, and Grady Schaadt, and freshmen Carlton Glaze, Eli Scales, Zeke Scales, and Mason Veskauf. Aaron Jones and Tanner Nixon received second team all-conference. Coach Chris Lundquist was also named Coach of the Year. This is the 10th time that Lundquist has been named Coach of the Year on the boys side along with winning the award three times for girls track & field. In total, Lundquist has been named Coach of the Year for 10 consecutive seasons when both boys and girls awards are combined. The ECA girls track & field team placed 4th in a very close race with Legacy Christian. Jillian Witherow, Mya Lawrence, Tori Schleuter, and Moriah Amos all earned second team all-conference honors. Great job to the ECA Track & Field Teams! They will compete at the District meet next Tuesday and Saturday at Graham High School.
